Unit 10- Work Experience

 Audit Skills:

Tasks I can do:
My client gave me two option that I can work with. One being creating icons for application. And the second, being creating prototype for new functionality. Both options I can make using Figma or Adobe XD, since they are both software that are easy to create prototypes and designs.

A bit about the product and the problem to solve:

My client product is an app inside the Miro platform. Users use Miro as a way to brainstorm their ideas with collaboration of other as the platform can be shake and multiple people can use it at the same time.
Inside Miro platform has an option where you can have more apps and tools. There it can be found my clients app "Smart Diagrams". As my client and his coworker already worked in this field. They didn't need much of a background research to know their product was needed in the market.

After my interview with my client, He showed that the product has some limitation on color and typography. Which are things that in the future he wants to include in a pay subscription. But the main problem that needs to be solved is how

Audience Research:

Miro is an online collaborative whiteboard platform that enables distributed teams to work effectively together from brainstorming with digital sticky notes. Smart Diagrams is an app (plugin) that expands Miro’s basic functionality and allows users to add charts and infographics right inside Miro’s digital whiteboards as part of the user's workflow. The target audience for Smart Diagrams are people in need of a more sophisticated way to present concepts and ideas through some type of graphic visualisation that’s easier to understand. Based on my initial research, I surveyed 17 Smart Diagram users with the aim of understanding their roles and line of work. Based on the survey results, individuals or teams in the Sales, Marketing and UX&Design fields are the primary audience for the type of capabilities provided
by Smart Diagrams.

Client Contact:

While doing my work, I send an email to my client so I could get his opinion on how my work is going. I don't have more evident on the contact I had with my client as all the communication was made face to face.

Analyse similar Product:

I chose to analyse SmartArt from Microsoft as I was a product where my client mentioned on the interview to give an example of a similar product in the market. Although, this product is used not only on PowerPoint but also on Excel, Outlook and world. My clients product in Miro can be shared with other people at the same time.
SmartArt is to make a fast visual representation of information. It has many different layouts to share ideas and messages.

Wireframe:

After having the interview and looking on their app and how it works. I made a quick wireframe on what functionalities would have and have a better understanding of what my clients wants on his app. It's important that I create this wireframe before hand as I can have a better idea of what my client wants me to create. Besides, it's great to plan ahead since I can showed my plan to make sure I was going to the right direction on my task.

Presentation:

2 small targets for the next weeks:
1. Start creating the actual product
2. Make the target audience research

Production:

Those are my first draft of my work in progress where I have emailed asking my clients feedback. While producing the work I kept in mind that I am supposed to work with all my client's categories. And use the same tones of blue available.

Final:

Client Feedback:

How well did the learners communicate with you?

Yes, Bianca communicated in a timely manner with me and kept in the loop regarding the progress

How well did they complete tasks in a timely manner?

Apart from a minor delay, which was communicated in advance, all tasks have been completed according to the plan.

Are you happy with the final product/service completed by the learners?

Yes, the final product met my needs and will be used to drive the development of the new functionality of my app.

What is one area you felt they could have performed better in?

Instead of static wireframes, dynamic prototypes could be created to give more clarity of the user journey/workflow.

Evaluate:

The aimed to this project was to create a diagram for Smart Diagram app so users can easily explain a process, show off data, tell a story or infographics. My client gave the information about who are the main audience to this product are  are people in need of a more sophisticated way to present concepts and ideas through some type of graphic visualisation that’s easier to understand. In which after doing a survey, I found out that individuals or teams in the Sales, Marketing and UX&Design fields are the primary audience for the type of capabilities provided by Smart Diagrams.
To finish this project, I analysed a similar product that was SmartArt from Microsoft which is know for lots of people since Microsoft's platforms are really used. Analysing this product gave me a better idea and understanding of what my client wanted from me. And then I made a quick wireframe on what functionalities would have and have a better understanding of what my clients wants on his app, I showed the wireframe and they gave a feedback on how I was going with the project. Due to that information I started producing my final outcome with all the information I got from the interview from my client and the final outcome was created on Figma where I am familiar using it.
Creating this product was new to me as I never worked producing a diagram anyhow it was a great experience to get on the working industry. December was the last month I could work on this project. I didn't have much time to finish this project the way I wanted since I was doing lots of stuff at the same time, however, I managed to finish this on my deadline as I wanted to be professional to my client. The objective of this project which was to create a diagram I did successfully but I wish I had more time to find more typography and colour palette for my client. After finishing everything, I set a new interview with my client so I could show my final outcome and they could give me a feedback on how I did. My client was satisfied with the result apart from a minor delay that I had communicated to my client before hand.
